I could aquire this kit for about $33.00 total redeeming my Dragon bucks.

How does this kit shake down,from what I read,it seems to be one of the better KT's on the market,except for fictional decals.

Am I correct in saying this is one of the better Dragon KT's especially since it's on sale.

Hey Anthony, I've just finished building this kit and it was very nice; tons of detail, magic tracks, metal barrel, heaps of etch. All for nearly half the price of other dragon KT kits.

Sadly I can't really comment on if it's an accurate king tiger since it's the only one I've ever built (and only my second completed model) but I can say that If you do choose to buy it it will be a very fun kit to build.

cheers
Tristan

Tony C.;

I don't know much about most of the Dragon KT kits, but I do have both of the zimm'd kits and also that recent last production kit...

As to accuracy... 6662 is a "Black Knight" kit and is really pretty much a re-box of some prior Henschel turret KT w/out zimm. As a B-K kit, it does not need to conform to any particular KT and thus may not be more or less accurate than whatever base Henschel turret kit it came from. I don't know which one that is, but you can find out which Dragon was used by looking up the Henschel turret types and finding the one(s) without zimm.

My general understanding is that mostly the Dragon KT are pretty accurate, but that each and all needs a few mods to get closer to whatever truth you seek. The zimm'd kits and the revised final production kits have all been pretty positively reviewed, as have other Dragon KT, and I would guess you are OK with this one, too.

Having said all of that, I would say that 33 bucks may be beatable for any of several KT on the evilbay (if you do that) and I know I would see one or another nice Dragon KT at a show vendor table in the near future, so... Also, Dragonusaonline seems to have sales quite often, and one or another KT shows up on those for around 30 a pop.

FYI: Spruebrothers has the Dragon Henschel turret KT kit "Battle of the Bulge 1944" on sale right now for 31.99 US - this is the kit with 2 sets of fallschirmjagers, metal barrel, MagicTracks, etc. (and maybe it is mostly the base kit for that B-K thing...). For my money, want a non-zimm'd mid-production Henschel KT, this could be the one!

Just saying, of course!

It is the same kit as the "Battle Of The Bulge" release, 6254, but without the figures and comprehensive decals. I guess a reasonable facsimile of a "mid" production KT sans zim.

Cookey Sewell liked it and that's good enough for me.

I almost bought the Black Knight kit when an outfit was selling them through Amazon for $25 and free postage. Missed it by thiiis much. I bought the BoB kit from a private seller for $30 so I'm satisfied.

Bottom line: It's a good kit at a decent price. Buy with confidence! I think Squadron has them cheap in the latest flyer.
