Hi, can you guys tell me if there is a way to mix colors and get a good rubber color to paint rubber tires and track rollers? I know that Vallejo offers "#70306 Dark Rubber"
but, I kinda wanted to try my hand at mixing my own colors for simple applications.

I think that someone who can mix their own paints and get the shades that they want is a very good thing to know.

Thanks for all help, Greg

Foe rubber I use Testors 1183 just make sure you thin it with miniral spirits
for sand I use Tamiya or model masters they have several different shades of sand including Italian sand.

Ok, boys .. I've got these (2) mixes on the shelf to try out without having to get the UPS truck gassed up. And I have a bottle of AK Dust Effects that I think would look really good lightly accented with any of these ideas that you fine people have given me.

I will absolutely try your recepies, and many thanks. Greg

Tamiya has a tire black not sure of the number, Mr hobby has one to H 77, if you do not want to mix a special color. Vallejo has two a tire black and a worn rubber too . Light rubber 305, dark rubber 306 .

chumpo, I appreciate the input. All of these mixes and color combination kits are quite the rage for paint companys across the the globe, and that is for sure.

There are so many variants to choose from nowadays, that it has become a confusing ordeal for most of us, until we find the right combination that works in about any situation. I will take all of the ideas that you guys have given me and surely try them out on different kits, and scenarios.

Thanks Greg

Tamiya has rubber black xf 85 , NATO black is xf 69 I guess it all depends on how you want to show the tires. One would be okay for a brand new tire and then for a tire that's old and worn then come customs color. I believe if you are going to weather and dirty up a tire mixing the colors play a very little part in the color , since it will covered up by the dirt and grime you are going to put on it . Now for the parade ground look with the armor all and all thet good stuff that's a different story.
