I was at my local store today and took a look at the Revell of Germany LVT-(A)1 AMTANK and the LVT-(A)1 Alligator. The store clerk and I couldn't see any difference between the two kits, except for the obvious markings and box. The Revell of Germany kit was $5 cheaper ($29.95 compared to $34.95 for the Italeri kit). I don't think I'll ever be able to figure out the reboxing business.

I wish I had a local store that ordered armor kits more than twice a year.

Rob--did you see the after market kits for them in the July issue of FSM. VLS advertisement lists them as costing 32 and 46 bucks. WOW! You better really want to spruce up the OOB to invest that kind of money.

I'm not that interested in USMC-specific armor to want to spend that much money! The new box caught my eye and I was wondering why the price differences for basically the exact same kit.

Rob--I see where VLS advertises USMC figures for the LVT series. I have the Italeri Buffalo with the VLS after market kit ready to hit the bench. Did you get the Alligator?

I have that old one. I think it was originally a Renewal mold then it came out again from Canada. Terrible .30 cals. When I get ambitious again (after the M-26 completion), I want to hit the Buffalo. The VLS add on has some nice material. Did you get that one?

I think you misunderstood me, the RoG one is the same as the new Italeri one, but in a different box and $5 cheaper.Quoted TextNo, but I was tempted to get the RoG boxed version...
