Hi ,

this is my first diorama on this forum.

It presents a roadblock near Bastogne during the Beginning of the Battle of the bulge in december 1944.

I show some pictures and the next update , i explain how i've made the pine trees.

Comments are welcome

nicely done scene with lots of details well executed. you get a good flow with the composition as well. i would even add that with that wet mud being like soup it might be sprayed on the vehicles a bit more, though this can be overdone.

great build and paint finishing all around. cheers

Thank you for the advice,

i understand your opinion to apply wet mud on the vehicles.
But in my opinion there is a chance to lose detail if you apply a bit mud. It's a personal preference i think.

Now, how do i make the pine trees ????

Step 1 , i use Balsa wood as the basis of the trunk. Then sanded with fine sandpaper.

Step 2 , i'll make a mixture of filling compound + thinner (to make it smooth) and fine sand. than apply this on the trunk , this makes the tree bark more realistic.

After drying the trunk is sprayed over in a red brown color and furder modified with som pigment.

Step 3 ,
with a fine needle or thumb nail making holes in the trunk

The twigs are from a toy store for model trains and are a kind of sea vegetation.
After they have been ranked from largest to smallest , i glued them in the trunk with instant glue.

I hope this was useful ?

Lots of strong points there Sir! Well done indeed!!

Only thing I might want to change is the bright green of the grass! In December -with snow- it looks a lot "dryer". i.e. buff

Cheers

Romain

I thank you sir , Romain , for the friendly reply.

I have not painted the grass , that is why it is so bright . But i'm agree with your opinion. The next time i keep that in mind.

Greets.
