Hi All,
Thanks Patrick. The build continues. I primed the model this evening, so I don't think anyone cares to see a black-primered model. I'll start the painting in earnest tomorrow. Later!
Regards,
Georg

Hi All,
I don't what's going on, but I seem to only have time to get stuff done on the weekends these day. That being said, I was able to get paint on the exterior of the armored car. I used a bunch of different brands of paint to reach the final shades. I didn't get too crazy with the undercarriage as it's going to pretty gunked up when I'm done. The pictures were taken after I hit the model with clear gloss. It'll get hit with semi-gloss to finish up once the decals are applied.

All for now, more tomorrow!
Regards,
Georg

Hi All,
My wife was working last night, so I got some serious time to devote to the armored car. I was able to completely decal the model, which was not easy!

Upon looking at the pictures, I may need to remove the strip on the bow and replace it with one that's a straighter! I got the decals to snuggle down over the surface details with some Wlather decal setting solution and for the stubborn spots, Mr. Mark Softener. I've got a club meeting tonight, so I won't be doing anymore work until tomorrow night. Enjoy!
Regards,
Georg

Hi All,
After an insane weekend, I'm posting what I've been up to. I really cleaned up with washes! Sorry, I couldn't resist! v Anyway, I got an overall filter on the model, to help tone-down the contrasts of the paint.

I then went back and did a pin-wash:

I think the pin-wash provides adequate contrast, especially after the dot filters are applied. More later.

Georg

Hi All,
I'm back! I spent about a week playing around with the "brush splatter" technique on the M8. I used a couple of different colors of powders suspended in Windex. Then, I dipped a brush into the resulting solution and gave it a blast with my airbrush. Here's what things looked like once everything dried:

I think it looks pretty good. Dirty, but not weather-beaten. I figured being peacetime, inspections would be common and the vehicles would be washed regularly. All for now. Happy Thanksgiving!

Georg

Looks great Georg. I'm glad I got a copy of your decals for one of my upcoming (ha ha) M8 projects...

Hi All,
Thanks Patrick. This is my final installment of this build. I gave model a light dust coat to blend everything together and lighten things up a little. It got mounted on a base and is ready for the spring show season. Enjoy!

I've got another project in the wings, but it isn't AFV-related, so I probably will not have anything to post for a couple of weeks. I'll be back soon! Happy Holidays!

Georg

Georg,
That looks really nice, I am sure you will do well on the 'show' circuit! I think the best compliment I can give is that your work makes me want to brush aside what is on my table now and break out an M8 myself.
So, what's next up for you?
Cheers,
Rick Cooper
