I got the model, but wanted to make sure it was of the type that would be in Soviet frontline service circa 1962-the Cuban Missile Crisis. Also, how might it be marked?

I believe it was still in front-line service at this time. As far as I know the markings are just the simple ones from the box instructions- usually just the number on each side toward the rear of the upper deck- though I think most of the Russian service vehicles had the number more in the middle of this area- it seems mostly NVA vehicles placed them further back.

Thanks. And I assume the simple green color was also correct? Maybe with winter whitewash?

Yeah the standard Russian green seems to be the most prevalent color for vehicles in Russian service- most of the camouflaged schemes used on it were in non-Russian service.
As for whitewash I've never seen a pic of it using that, though I would say it was more than likely used in the winter months, its just a pity there don't seem to be more pictures handy. This is the only picture I've seen that looks like it might be whitewash:

As you can see the picture quality is fairly bad but the ground appears to be covered in snow (its on the running gear too) and the lightest color on the vehicle would appear to be as white as the snow on the ground- the markings don't look like Russian ones though and I think there is a roundel present on the side of the vehicle- which could mean it is a Finnish vehicle as I believe they use roundels in their markings.

Anyway, good luck with the project- are you planning a build log for it?

I think the BTR above is from the finish army.

No, I have no camera, an erratic schedule, and the wheels are a nuisance to clear of seams. But I plan to get it done.
