Hi, All
I have just bought an original Tamiya 1/35 M8.
It is un-made and unopened in its original sealed box.
The pricing on the side is in shillings and pence, which suggests that it is early 1970s. Could this be right?
The unusual thing about it is that it is MOTORISED and I didn't realise that Tamiya did such a version.
The number is '1./35 Identical Scale Series No.16'
Many thanks in advance for your help

First of all welcome to Armorama - best site around.
Not sure about that particular kit, but I have to agree with your evidence. Tamiya did a lot of motorization on their early kits. And the number is very low.

Tamiya did an old M8 Armored Car that was motorized. I have an old Tamiya flyer insert that lists the various motorized kits and the kit number:
OK, figured out that the missing numbers were kits that weren't motorized. i.e. MM-16 was static, MT-16 was motorized. If there wasn't an MT-# then the kit was not motorizable like a figure set, Kubelwagen, motorcycle set, Flak gun.
- MT-07 M41 Walker Bulldog
- MT-08 Saladin Mk II
- MT-09 JSIII Stalin T-10
- MT-13 T-34
- MT-16 M8 Armored Car
- MT-17SU-100
- MT-18 M4 Sherman
- MT-20 King Tiger...

Yep, Reg, it's a toy. I have one also and as a scale model it's an excellent typewriter. Seriously, scale-wise it's a piece of junk. Collector-wise it's a real gem. Just get the new Italeri or Tamiya M8 if you want to build a model of the M8 and sell this oldie on eBay.

Thanks, guys.
I've taken Paul's advice and put it in ebay!
Feel free to bid, but I would like to get more than the 18 shillings and sixpence on the box (that's about 92.5p!) Item number is 2207706431 and is available from 1900hrs GMT.
Thanks again
Richard
