Hey, All,
I'm thinking of tackling a Marine M2A4 on Guadalcanal next year. It looks as if the Academy Honey be the best place to start...any ideas...? I know Great Models has an Ironside M2A4 conversion listed for about $30.00 and I recently saw an Ironside M2A4 conversion kit (that seemedt to include the entire Academy Honey kit) at Mission Models, but that sucker was $75.00!
Has anyone ever done built or used any of the above conversions to model this tank? Any good references lurking around (and no, I do not have the Hunnicutt Stuart book --- unfortunately...)
Thanks!
Aloha,
Johnny B.

I had a friend who was working on the Commander(?) full resin kit of the M2A4 (at least I recall it was that kit). I remember him paying about $100 for it. I think the $30 sounds like a good deal. Buy and build it so the modeling gods will release one in plastic for the rest of us

I came across the M2a4 (probably for the first time) the other day, did it not have some kind of strange turret/gun arrangement? I love the look of those early-war tanks....Jim

I ordered the Commander's M2A4 from Greatmodels back in August. Still waiting for it to come in. Sorry, I can't offer you anymore to go on.

If you go over to AFV News George Bradford has some nice 1/35 scale drawings for M2A4. I think I might Scratchbuild mine anyway even though Ironside has a converison for it or will soon. It doesn't look to hard to do...but thats what I say now

Thanks, guys --- I'll head that way...
Wow, Mike, still waiting for your M2A4 from Commanders....? Have they told you what the delay is...? That's a bummer!! Let us know what the kit looks like when you get it (I've seen it advertised in old issues of MMiR)...
Not that there would be a huge market for it, but it wouldn't be all that hard for Academy to do their own injection molded version --- heck most of the parts are already done for either the Honey or Stuart...
Oh, well... It'll be a little while before I tackle this one...
Thanks again!
Aloha,
Johnny B.

Mike thank you for confirming my memory that it was a Commander's M2A4. Since Scott works where I used to work, he may know the man who was working on the kit, MAJ Bill Bayne.I ordered the Commander's M2A4 from Greatmodels back in August. Still waiting for it to come in. Sorry, I can't offer you anymore to go on.

So is Commanders re-tooling the kit, or was the kit never completed, but advertised (it's not like we don't see delays from the resin and styrene kit companies)...? And have they said anything to you as to the cause for the delay...?
