Are these all new-build vehicles or are they upgrades from previous chassis?



Here's what I've found (from various websites) :

"Over 950 existing M109s have been rebuilt as the M109A6 Paladin. The Paladin configuration is achieved through extensive modifications to existing M109A2/A3 vehicle hulls and the subsequent introduction of an entirely new turret structure. The remaining M109 howitzer fleet has received the M109A5 upgrade, which included some of the same automotive and crew NBC protection improvements as well as the Paladin's M284 cannon and M182 gun mount".

And because of this, there is a plate on the top of the hull where the hoses for the old flotation gear came through the hull. (Near the heater intake) I sent photos to AFV Club quite a while back. I don't know if they added it. I have the kit waiting at home, unfortunately I am not there to look right now. Can anyone confirm whether it is there or not? I cannot even see any images on the computer I'm using right now.
