well... i am going to commence a diorama thats relatively long about ( 60 cm) and 30 cm wide. well i want to have a short wall of sandbags and concrete walls however my problem is i cant do this without having my sandbags and concrete wall parallel to base. its just impossible, any ideas would be greatly greatly grealty appreciated.

Hey big guy!!! The first thing to remember about not being parallel to the edges of your base is............ even the smallest degree of off angling will help to make the diorama that much more eye pleasing. As long as you off-kilter (there is one of those technical terms) the road, track, path, street, etc., etc.......... the viewer will be drawn to the scene and not the composition as much. Hope it helps.

Another thing about rules - you can bend'em (at least in the diorama world).
Go with a slight angle as Jon suggested. And if you just can't do it then you cant.
I remember a diorama of a sherman on a DW next to a canal in France and it was long - it was parallel and it didn't distract from the diorama at all.

Matt,
Remember that sometimes having diorama where objects are not parallel to the base isn't such a good idea. I have seen a diorama or two where the groundwork/street section was at an angle thus it had to be shortened. Because of it being shortened to accommodate the angle rule, the piece of armor that was in that diorama had to stick way out outside of the base. It did not look good at all. Perhaps you could draw a birds' eye view of your diorama in both scenarios (angle and no angle) and see if you can live with it being parallel. In the end it only matters if you are happy with it.

Here is an idea I just had - don't have a rectangle for a base.
Put a 'wave' in the long edge. Something a bit decorative that does not take away from the structure or overall appearance.
