I find kind of odd the trend on some companies to sell you the product AND the instructions on how to use it... Do you think this is normal? Maybe in the future I will have to purchase separately a kit and their instructions!

I just pray Ikea will not follow them...

The use of the product is described on their website, the book I would think is more to people learning to weather or looking for alternatives.

The book is an "in deep" guide to achieve the best from all True Earth products, and to know all the uses which would be impossible to describe otherwise.
