Hi. Been fooling around with Tamiya's latest OIF Bradley vehicle and am trying to figure out what would be a good item to use to replicate that 'fabric' strap that I've seen on the sides of these vehicles that supports all the items they had/have hooked on the side of them during this operation. I would guess that the ends of these things have some kind of quick snap hook that attaches behind the extra armor on the vehicle's sides, which wouldn't be seen in a model. But was just wondering if any of the modern armor builders out there has ever tried something that represents this long, white-ish type of strap on any of their vehicles, and how successful they came out with it.
I am figuring any kind of regular material would be too coursely woven for this scale, but yet there has to be something or other that would work. May have to make a trip to the local craft store or even fabric store and nose around some. But just figured I'd ask here first.
Thanks and take care, sgrity

I haven't done this paticular item - in thinking about it though I might try some type of paper. Maybe a nicer stationary or business card type. Give a bit of texture, nice maliability, low cost, takes paint well.
Fold over the very end and use hobby wire for the quick release hook.

Call me a PUTTZ, but I like the good old medical tape or home masking tape.
they both have sticky to help in placing said strap and they bothe have the desired texture.
I dont know maybe its my FAILURE to explore.

Hi. Medical tape. Well! I never would have thought of that. That just might do the trick. Roll out a strip and put it down on some glass; measure and cut off a thin ribbon of it; peal it off the glass and basically just stick it on, more or less. And it does have that 'grainy type of texture to it, sort of all ready built right in. And it's flexible as well, so any turns or bends would fit right in. Should do right well for 1/35. Funny thing is I used some of this stuff just this morning for something totally unrelated to this hobby and it never crossed my mind for an application such as this. I'll give this a try.
Thanks RotorHead, I have a feeling you've done this before.
Take care, sgrity :-)

When it comes to webbing and straps I use nothing but.
It even is great for figures for equipment webbing.
