Hi guys，

I start to built the meng's T-90A with some scratch techniques, first is the barrel protective sleeve ,I used a balloon to build it. I made a ring of about 10mm diameter used a 0.5mm copper wire and put it on the balloon, then I covered the balloon onto a glass injector in order to adjust the shape of the balloon, you can get a fine drape performance if the pressure is correct. After applied the super glue just on the ring, turned over the balloon and sealed the ring in it.

I also make a sleeve of condom using same method, and it performed a fantastic effect.









Here is other processions I made, Thank for watching! Next scratch I decided to apply is lighting IR Shtora-1 used optical fiber. Wish I could make it.

Brilliant bit of thinking there Andy mate ,,have to admit i'd never think of using a condom for that ..other uses come to mind

Thanks my friend,the balloon is also a good choice,it performs a good efect as well if you can find a thinner one.

Very interesting use of materials, when I saw the first picture i thought it was some kind of outlandish drug kit

"cover that cannon" is a pun on the intended use of the condom and the fact that you have used it to cover a canon which may euphemistically refer to a willy

It's not as if I'd be elevating and depressing the gun all
day, it's just I can't imagine paint sticking to these things

It is a double pun:

1. It refers to condoms and their primary use covering a privates, which many men jokingly refer to as their "cannon", among MANY other things. There are also a lot of sayings associated with getting men to use a condom, like "wrap that rascal" and a million iterations therof, all to help lead to protection, and so the phrase "covering that cannon".

2. It refers to the fact that tank main guns have covers that go over them as well to keep water out of the barrel during stowage or transport. You truly must "cover that cannon". (The mantlet cover is also used to protect from weather, but is a semi-permanent item and, honestly, not as funny).

That you have mixed the two, a mantlet cover made from a STD prevention product, produces all the joke needed.

Have I over-explained it enough yet?

That was really the problem I was worry about.But after testing with the Mr.Hobby's thinner,it seemed nothing happened,of course the oil must be wash out before paint.but there are many materials of condom,should be tested brofore using.Actually the air is the real killer of my mantlet,aging of rubber must be avoided,I have applied the white glue(mostly used by paper crafter)onto the surface. Move it all day may course the peeling,but I friend of mine had built a similar one used plastic wrap once,the paint is still there for years.

Thanks for your explaination,have learned more.I have almost thought out the answer,but not sure of it.

No problem on the long winded explanation.

As for the mantlet cover, it almost seems like you need to make a master you like and then make a casting of it out of a different kind of rubber. I believe there should be materials that you can use to mold that also have enough play in them to allow the barrel to elevate and depress.

I love what your doing. Having the main gun stuck like that for more than 4 hours l think your suppose to call a doctor. I'm building the Zvezda t-90 now. I was going to hack it up to get the profile right,(I've Ben watching some crazy Russian master the kit on panzer54 for about a year) then comes Meng! I decided to just glue Zvezda together and finish it.OOTB still fun to put together! I got my Meng t-90 last week,I had to have it! I pondered lowering the main gun too.I find the t-90 to be a fascinating subject.I love the work you did on the shtora linkage.

But i've made only movable barrel, not shtora IR lights.... I'm gonna build this model again and i'm writing to meng, for they create some PE parts for it, but look like they ignoring it. It will be preally good to se your guide with better photos, and how you make connections(movable) between two rods? From wire? If yes how is it ending, it must hold those 2 rods.... Please reply

How you make connection of this 2 little parts? what is connection for them, so parts are holding to it and dons fall from it, beign movable? Please reply, i will make this model agains, i'm waiting till it be aviailable again in my shop.
