hehehe- I can understand your frustration, but I would also like to point out that nobody is making you buy this model. You are no worse off today than you were before this KT was announced. #:-)

I always get a kick out of the outcry that follows the announced release of anything German. It almost seems like people feel the manufactureres are TAKING allied kits away from them when they make a German subject. I probably won't buy this either - I have too many Tamiya KTs on the pile anyway, and those are great kits........ My only beef is the fact that we get yet ANOTHER Tiger..... hehehe, when a good PzKpfw II or Marder II is desperately needed :-)

Anyway - my advice would be to hold your money for the Academy offerings... they seem to be cranking out allied subjects lately, or maybe AFV Club - they offer lots of allied stuff as well. Just buy the stuff you want to - nobody is twisting your arm. :-)

Let us German armor guys wallow in our bottomless pit of armor choices, without feeling guilty about it... hehehehe :-)

Mwah...hahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha

Later-
Jeff

Hi. Kind of agree with jrnelson here. Getting kind of tired of seeing all this late war stuff. Of course the 'Tiger' is the 'Tiger' and these kits are basically living off the reputation of the real thing, but I, also, would like to see more of the early war years models coming out. I think the early vehicles have a lot more to offer, as far as designing, options, painting/weathering, etc. , than the later war kits, esp. where it concerns the German AFVs. And the Allied vehicles for that matter as well.

Take care, sgirty

Oh this SUCKS! Why, when there are Several awesome Tamiya King Tigers do we need a new one?

There as so MANY kits that need to be released or re-released it amazes me to no end that this is what they do. (I know, it sells...)

Dragon - do a new Sherman or how about a new T64? Anything but a new Tiger!

Steve

PS - Look at Dragons's new small scale stuff to see how out of touch they are with that market...

Well, that's what we need! Another Porsche turret Tiger II.

Thank goodness! I was tired of seeing all the Tamiya versions...

Man, these must sell like hotcakes for DML to bother. This kit will be cheaper than Tamiya's, and come with indy links. I'm not sure what else will be different...

And I'm not moaning because it's German, I'm moaning because the EXACT SAME TANK has been done so many times!!

Well,if you don't (sacrelige) have a KT of any turret style, this could be a good one to get.
I have the Tamiya Porsche turreted version, and zimmerit, and won't need to buy this one.
i just wish some 50's era armor would appear.SPG 's too.

My sentiments exactly! I dont mind companies realeasing german stuff... Im a fan, but we already have Tamiya Tiger IIs. It was great to see Dragon release the karls (Im not bothered about the reviews ... have seen it built up and painted and its good enough for me) and the leopold. Why not keep in this vein ...... releasing new vehicles to the arena. As somebody said above ... I wont be falling off my chair with excitment and sleeping-out tonight to get it first thing.

I have a problem with this!ther are so many subjects missing from the market place that in my humble opinion it seems to be a waste for DML to do a kit thats already been done.I personally dont think there version will be as good as the excellent tamiya version...also on that same line i think it was a waste for italeri to do there series of tigers.Im not anti ww2 german or any thing I just think there are to many subjects out there that havent been done...would have been much happier if they would have announced a centurion or sheridan or somthing....any hoe happy modeling.....larry

I can see both sides here. As a modern Soviet/IDF/IS builder there are soooooo many other things we need.

If they were going to do a kit that was already out there, but not up to current standards
T62 and T64, or LAV might be a good place to start.

There are too many unissued kits to even begin to mention.

As a late war German builder, I am not impressed.. I've already got 2x Tamiya King Tigers, one build and took a silver at AMPS. I am not such a KT fanatic that I can imagine that this one is worlds better than the Tamiya offerings. Pricewise w indie links and some etched screening it might be a better deal.

The DML paper Panther G's were interesting, a Panther Coelian in plastic I like. Arty obs/Command, ok. II and F all right, a better turret would have been nice though.
Steel wheels and 3xIR fantasy ok fine.
But they are not that much better than the Tamiya 3x offerings of Panther G's

I like the fact that DML has 251's on the way. That's a good repeat, Tamiya's old doggie is showing it's age.

Until someone does a 251 w Pak40 mounted /22 ?? -my references are packed to move and a Falke/UHU in injection plastic, I'll keep dreaming and buying expensive resin sets I never start...

my $0.02

I wouldn't say that Dragon is out of touch.. I collect the NEW 1/72 diecast line and the kits.. It's great and ALL German, but they sell fast and that is what makes money for them to make other subjects down the road.. Not such a bad marketing idea afterall..

NEW RELEASE,
I have to admit I enjoy building German armor. BUT FOR CHRIST SAKE !!!!!
PUT something in plastic that is NEW, not the same old crap year after year, only differance is from a differant company. HOW MANY FREAKIN Pnzr 111 can you build, or Tigers. The baest DAMN releases in years has been the Leopold, (that took Kahunas to kit) and the new
Marders from Tamiya.. Im really getting fed up with no company doing some different US, British, or German AFV that we dont currently have in kit form
Academy, AFV,Trumpeter are really the only companies that have gone out on the pervirbial limb. HATS OFF TO THEM

No it's not all German. They just came out with two Abrams in 1/72 with a Bradley soon to follow.

Sounds fine, but the trouble is that these kits have rubber band tracks and look like they are intended for motorization because the hulls have weird bumps and holes in them. Compared to other companies small scale, this Dragon stuff is far from great.

Why bother with these kits when Revell already has these and they are 100 times better?

That's the point; it's fine to have new German armor but please make it NEW. Even die hard German fans can't be too thrilled with another King Tiger. The Tamiya is better than fine.

I really like this version of the Tiger, but how many Tigers do we really need. How about some updated US and German halftracks? I personnally would like to see more American
halftracks. Just my thoughts

I'd be excited if they were releasing that Horsa glider that is shown in the background in 1/35th. Instead, another stinking Tiger (yawn).

Depends on where you are! Dragon have gotten very expensive here in Sweden. Italeri kits usually sell for about 175 - 250 sek, tamiya new from 350-450 sek and dragons new kits are all hitting the 499 sek mark now. Thats almost $50. Just way too much because this is only going to interest the serious modeller who will want to add at least PE to this.

I myself am a German armor fan but another Tiger?? & for Christ's sake its the prototype.
The only thing I see good in here are the Indy tracks w/c I dearly want for my King Tiger.

INMHO DML could have spent thier time and effort on on a vehicle not covered by another model maker. Say a Somua S-35,or a Char B1 bis, or an Italian P-40, or Autoblinda 41, or an M4/M4a1 early with direct vision blocks and M3 suspension.

They could be firing a shot accross Tamiya-Sans bow just for the hell of it. It just might wake Tamiya up and make them cough up a re-tooled M3 halftrack series.

Oh well, my poor wallet is in enough trouble with Academy's M-36 and M-10 Duckbill, 251's from DML and AFV Club.

It's a great time to be a WW2 armor modeler!
