Hi all,
I am planning to build the M1A2 Abrams. Does anybody have any reference material about this tank in winter camouflage?

That's nice and all, except for the small fact that there is no winter camo pattern for any Abrams anymore. No M1A2 has had winter camo.

Well Im sure you could still use a winter camo for an Abrahms anyways since you know we could always go and fight in siberia incase war breaks out between the US and like Russia. So I say go on ahead and paint it in Winter camo, while you're at it I'm sure you could add small xmas lights around the tank. I wish I could see that seeing an M1A2 painted in winter camo with lights spreading the joy of destruction on xmas

Didn't they have some M-1's up in Alaska? I know there is an Army Division up there (6th Inf ?) or did it move? I would think they would have winter cammo. That old movie "Red Dawn" had some M-1's in it, weren't they white?

I have to admit "RED DAWN" is one of my FAV. movies too. BUT NO there were not M1's in that movie.
I believe the photo above is of an M1A1 , which in deed ,was in this camo, for operations training in Alaska. BUT BroAbrams is correct too, NO A2 has seen winter camo.

I am quite sure SABOT would be the last word on this, but I can give you the next best perspective to Alaska....Minnesota.
The standing orders amongst my unit (a FO unit with M981's in 3 tone Nato) and the units we served (3 Artillery Batteries, 2 armored Battalions, 1 Infantry Battalion) was to basically paint out the brown inthe Nato 3 tone with white. Simple as that, and very effective, at least in Minnesota.
Oh, and I have seen it on a standard M113A1...renamed Doug's Party Barge...it existed when I got out in '97 and stayed in the winter cammo year round. Fun fun.

Well I agree. Wheather an A2 has seen Alaskan duty I cannot verify. But your description of
the camo is exactly how TB 43-0209 describes that climate paint scheme.
