I'm getting ready to build my FIRST EVER tank model......
( 1:25 Tamiya Jagdpanther SdKfz.173 #30607 ). Working in 1/25 because the details will be easier for me to work with - size does matter

I am a complete "Noob".......I have pretty decent modeling skills, but I have NO idea where to look for correct paint color, "How-to's", etc. PLEASE , give me some pointers?

Secondly, I am planning on the use of "Vallejo Model Air Acrylics" for this & future builds, as I have serious lung issues, and have to be extremely careful with fumes of any kind, so solvent paint is out. I have read mixed reviews on the "Vallejo" paint, but I'm planning on using it with it's companion reducer, AB cleaner, so.....(??)
Anyone have any input here?

Hi,for that vehicle you need a dark yellow base you can do a variety of camo schemes or just the base yellow normal camo colours areredbrown and olive green you will need to research this type of vehicle or look at models on this sight to get an idea of what you want.are you using a Air Brush? if so Vallejo model air is good they say it doesnt need thinnig but Ive found it needs a little, and retarder because it has a habit of drying quickly on the air brush tip which is annoying I prefer Tamiya paint for spraying but it does smell a little not sure about it being toxic Research as much as you can it pays dividends I go to various model sites and read all the painting posts you can learn a lot from them. Hope this helps

I'd stick with the Vallejo. The Tamiya will probably upset your lungs. I know that my Mr. Color paints might be listed as "acrylic" but they're killers on the pipes. I actually use a lot of Testors model Master paints, both enamel and acrylic, as they seem to not bother me-I'm not scrambling for my inhaler every 5 minutes.

The Gundam model guys have figured out how to use the cheap craft paint from Wal-Mart or whatever to do excellent finishes, and some even shot it through an airbrush. I picked up some of their techniques but not all of them, as I don't have an airbrush, but it does work pretty well if it has the color (or close) that you need on some things.

Edward;
post a link to that Gundam Walmart paint thing, this sounds intriguing.
