Speeeeeeed Build!

I would be fine with that if someone wants to do a 7 day. Quite a few of our campaigns run TOO long to my mind.

Cheers,
Jim

While I am not into the speed build, I do second Jim's thought, and have to agree some campaigns run too long in my opinion.

That's not a bad idea hahaha. Granted I probably couldn't do much bigger than a soft skin, this is still a cool suggestion. I'm in.

I'd deffinitely be in, something like a Jeep or other smaller wheeled vehicle would deffinitely be doable in the time frame.

Plus it's allways extremely satisfying to finish a model, doing so in a week could be quite addictive.

Thank you John, but as famous German officer once said "I'm not too old to lose one yet"

David, I have a question.
If this goes through is there going to be a minimum parts count on the build?

I mean there is no one out there that can do a Humber from Bronco in this time frame, but a resin figure with maybe ten parts is hardly a kit .
A group of figures with lets say 80 - 100 parts would be fair, as most small (soft skin) vehicles have at least this amount.
It's just my 2 cents to try and make this fair for all.

You've gone and peaked my curiosity. Which officer said that? You make a good point as well... I could never do anything bigger than a Tamiya softskin in a week hahaha.

I used to run an annual 1 week build on another forum, but the week was stretched to 10 days - Friday night to the following Sunday, so people got 2 weekends in, to give folks every chance to finish something.

The quality level of what folks could cook up was amazing.

Howdy Y'all:
Two weekends sounds good but I doubt if I would join. I'm notoriously slowww....
But I could change my mind, some of the 1/48 Tamiya Armor kits are a dream to build because they are well engineered.

Hi Conor,
it was Generalfeldmarschall Gerd von Rundstedt at the start of "a bridge too far".

I am in for this one. Just need a bit of warning before the start and let it stretch over two weekends, so rather a 9 day campaign.

Good idea!

Let's have a 9-day speed build!

As long as we have some agreement as to the date-range, and far enough out so that folks can line up everything that they need or want to use in it, could be nice and fun!

I'd sign up, I THINK, and plan on something simple... a small FlaK gun maybe, or a trailer or something! I'd expect to complete, oh, about 20 or so parts, given my proven track-record for flashing speed!

I actually will sign up if it goes and I can work the time-frame! IF we were doing it in DEC this year, I'd probably be a go!

Hi David, I like the idea of a quick-build campaign. Good for me it should be to have two weekends. This is important.

Then, some guidelines about the number of parts of the kit, just this. And some notice in order to purchase the right kit

I'm thinking about some 1:35 soft-skin or gun, pak40 or similar...

Guidelines for the size of the kit... Yeah...

Just don't get too glib about thinking a softskin need be a simpler, less parts-rich kit than one of those huge tank things! Look at the complexity of some of those Dragon and Trumpeter half-tracks!

And lets DEFINITLY avoid all temptation to think that a "mere" towed gun should be a simple, short build... I'm thinking here of a Bronco 88mm L/71 Flak41 kit I have on my pile... a mere many 100's of parts (maybe even more rapid a build, given all the tiny PE bits involved!)? Some of which, by the way, are mighty tiny indeed!

In fact, come to think of it... THAT would be a campaign indeed! A campaign to see who can actually build one of these mega-kits within a week! (And get some level of quality and finesse out of the exercise - quality and finesse are important! I could easily win if we were talking just getting stuff all glued together! )

I like the idea of a quick and dirty campaign. I've got a ZPU-1 HMG that came with a Meng Toyota Truck. I plan on eventually mounting it on a M113 or something else.

Would the ZPU be acceptable?

Hi friends,

Maybe I'm wrong, but this campaign is still not approved, right ?
