hi Gerry,

Your vignettes are getting better and better!!!
There is hardly anything wrong with this one. Just a few little things if you allow me:

- the high grass tufts..!!
- don't try to depict exhaust fumes..it doesn't work
- muzzle brakes should not be blackened
- there is a mould line on the right figure's left arm. It is too straight to pass as a seam!
- the shell cases look to copper-coloured. They were brass.
- the rolled up tarpaulin(?) should better be matt instead of shiny

Apart from these minor things you have done a great job! congratulations!!

Cheers

Romain

Thanks for looking and taking the time to reply.

The left sleeve of the left guy is not a mould seem it is the seem of his suit although it does look like one.

The shell casings are brass ones but raw were too shiny to represent fired ones. I gave them a wash of burnt umber and I feel they look more fired than being shiny new ones. All the fired casings I have seen look this way.

The tall grass is... tall grass which I have seen in nature and I just wanted to break up the white scene a little bit.

The exhaust fumes I wanted to try as I think it just adds another dimension to the scene.

A well used muzzle break does get black with the smoke and fumes coming from the gun.

The blanket I painted with vallejo matt colour and it does seem to be shiny? maybe need to add a bit of dull coat just to calm it down?

Your feedback is appreciated and valued.

Cheers

Gerry

Gerry hows it going buddy. This is a nice looking dio my friend.
I did notice the tarp, maybe dirty it up a little, coz there would be some dirt flicked up off the tracks etc. like you have on the model itself. Did you paint the mess tins, they look like they are sprue coloured, they should be field grey I think, with some wear. The smoke....personally I don't like smoke added, I have seen it done, I just think it doesn't look right, but that is only my opinion Gerry. Overall this is a good piece of building and imagination. Keep it up buddy.

Hi, Gerry,

Remember one thing: there is only one person you build for: Yourself!
If you like what you have done, it is OK.
Sure, there will be a lot to learn for ALL of us, with carefull examining the models of others, next to reading and listening about the way things have been created, one is able to make better models step by step.
But, at the end of the day, it is only you who counts.......

I liked your model, espessialy the way you made the snow.

Thanks for showing.

Much better! I have to agree about the exhaust fumes - it just doesn't work, lose it! As for your tall grass or weeds, they look too tightly bunched and too regularly spaced. Vary their lengths more and thin them out and space them out more.

I agree with Paul. You build for yourself and your imagination of the scene.
Looks great to me, well done and terrific photography. The zoom in on grass etc probably attracts criticism, which btw is not a criticism of the comments.
I am not up to the class of the commentators, but I'm sure looking at the scene on the whole, the size of grass tufts would not attract too much attention, my focus would be on the machine.
