Ola Guys

I like to show you what I have been working on the past few months. I originally constructed this for my entry in the Postcard Challenge. A campaign I started myself. And along the way I was contacted by Reality in Scale who showed interest to bring it out as a kit. Needless to say I was very honored by that request. Tomorrow I am going to hand it over to him at the SMC 2013 in Veldhoven and hopefully very soon my first master will be available in the range of Reality in Scale.

(the fence looks pretty rough in these pictures but that has been taken care of afterwards and is good now.)

Here is the finished master.

I am not surprised at all good buddy.
Your stuff was up to the aftermarket standards years ago already. All you had to do was make the parts with a mind for making molds and casting parts later.
Looks fantastic man,
J

Ola Guys

Thanks for the compliments. Really appreciated.

@ Tom
Yeah I'm really looking forward to it. One of the things I really want is a replacement for this master. Because now I have no diorama for the postcard challenge.

@ Jerry
Thanks a lot for the kind words... Really too much honour for my work. But you are definately right. It was quite a job thinking forward with designing every bit of the dio base if it was easy to cast. I have left all the parts separate so if the owner of Reality in scale wants things differently he can make adjustments.

Impressive and I really like the height of the building and the overall layout.

This is going to be a succes for you and hopefully for the rest for us, this will not be the only one, so keep them coming.

Outstanding Robert. I'd say RiS should be honored to have this piece in their catalog. I'll be sure to pick one of these up just to have a Blokker original (and because it looks so good!)

Just curious, Robert. When you give your master to the company, does it then become property of the company? And if you want a copy of the model for yourself, do you have to buy one from the company?

Thanks everybody for the compliments. Really make me humble. Today I handed it over to Olav from Reality in Scale. He was very enthousiastic about it and had all sorts of ideas on how he was going to cast it. I will know more in the course of November. So very exciting.

@ Biggles
Yes the master is bought so it is now property of Reality in Scale. I asked if I could get 2 copies. One to replace the master that was virtually my whole dio and one that I'd like to keep in the box. So that is part of the deal.

Robert,

Dude havnt had time to comment but have been following this thread. First of all well done, this is what I love about this hobby, made for modellers, by modellers. I find this cool as I have been involed in the same campaign this was born in and yes, i have to own one when it comes out just because of its history! So f#@£ing cool in my eyes. What really needs to happen now is for reality in scale to release a range of dio bases at a 'postcard' size, to target the market of those that have little space to display! Hold your head high Rob, this is a well deserved achievement!

This looks like a really fantastic piece- the attention to the details is first class- particularly the brick-work and the various attachments on the wall like the drain-pipe. Top stuff Robert- many congratulations.

Ola Guys

Thanks for the replies and compliments. 2 days after the event. The house feels empty without my dio

@ Alex
When I started this dio I could never have guessed that this would be the outcome. So yeah absolutely fantastic. I am really looking forward to the kit itself. The postcard size dio bases is not a bad idea. I might launch that kite with RiS to see what comes out of that.

@ Karl
Thanks mate for the compliments. Really appreciated.

Congratulations Robert. Turned out great. The cork texture looks great when cast in resin ... gives a natural brick and concrete effect.

@ Claude
LOL... That would be the day... Becoming a scalemodelling millionaire. Naah it is nice money for the hobby mate but It is more the honor of having something I made to become commercially available.

@ Frank
Thanks for the compliments... If you look up close (which I'm aware is not possible in the pic I uploaded) you will be amazed how much detail the resin picked up. I gave the planks on top of the building a light sanding to simulate woodgrain and the resin picked that up as well. I was pretty impressed with that.
