I was poking around at the Model Expo site when I noticed a 1/72 U-Boat model.. Why not chop it down to waterline, and build a diorama of a German submarine pen, maybe during an Allied attack.. What about the commando raid on St. Nazaire? With the commandoes fighting their way towards the U-Boat, under fire from Germans down the pier... Thoughts etc..

You could do the final scene from Das Boot. Where they're attacked by the British planes.

If you were to do soldiers attacking, you would have to use soldiers in 1/72 scale. Does any company make 1/72 scale troops?

The rollmodels catalog lists 32 1/72 figure kits from Revell Germany. 12 of which are WWII subjects and 5 of which are German WWII.

Hope this helps.

At a big convention in Paris, a month or two ago, there as a diorama with a 1/35th UBoat !!!!!!!!
It was at quay, reloading, with plenty of trucks and such on the pier...
There are photos at a french speaking site : www.military-kits.com
You must look for "mondial de la maquette".
Right now, I'm building the U23, a type II uboat, in 1/400th scale... that makes an approx 7cms
long model.

Good luck for your dio ! You'll easily find all you need !
