Hi Tom, its supposed to represent data plates for the spare tire winches and the instructions for the rear door lock. but instead of having the writing and such its just blank squares. I think this picture will sort of explain if you can see.

I'm really not happy with the kits decals.

Any Candian troop figgies out there? I just ordered mine, and would like to have a couple of Canadian troops included...

Looks great Alex, but would the spare wheels have such thick mud on them?

Alex,
Good to see your RG-31 and C2 coming to completion. The builds and initial painting are very nice but the weathering you are applying seems to mute out the details. To me, the weathering looks caked on rather than blended in and enhancing the look of the model in a realistic manner.
Are you using any type of fine/pin wash before and/or after? I can't tell if you are or not. If you are not you should consider using dark brown or black oil paints washes to pop out details and add a variation over the paint and all the pigments you are applying.
A few details I see missing from your Canadian RG-31 are the side view mirrors, the lifting eyes along the roof line above the windshield, and on later version RG-31s a driver's thermal viewer was mounted at the top of the centre windshield frame.
Did you find pics of the RWS painted in green and tan or is that just artistic licence?
Keep up the Canadian content!

Thanks Jason, I have used washes on both models. The RG-31 had Ak's OIF filter and wash applied, but I do agree that the dusting is muting the details and I will work to blend it a bit better. Thanks for also pointing out the missing details on the RG, I have already corrected it.

Agreed on the weathering, just need to tone it down and pick out the details.
Here's a pic of a green RWS from the 'stan

cheers
One of the serious problems in planning against Canadian doctrine is that the Canadians do not read their manuals, nor do they feel any obligations to follow their doctrine.

That's the one I used, I think it's in the EROC book. I have been working to tone down the dusting so hopefully that works.

Tamiya Clear green, and thinner. I mix it until my airbrush shoots a very very thinned green mist. I usually go around the mirror edges with a sharpie to get the armoured glass look. There are a few manufacturers who make a armoured glass colour.

Just a thought on the little information plates, I am under the impression that the real article is an aluminum plate with the information etched into it.
Perhaps someone who has first hand experience can correct me but I've seen plenty of similar info plates on various military vehicles as they are much more durable than some painted on letters.

Are you referring to the CFR Plates? (Canadian Forces Registration) plates
The are metal plates and the numbers are vinyl stickers.

cheers

Nice build. I agree the tires may be a tad overweathered.
I think Dogstar is refering to these types of data plates. I make them for my bike builds now with my own company name.

Hello,
Are there any aftermarket companies making a wheel set for this kit?
