So, I've been staring at my Meng AMX-30 and looking forward to cracking that box. My question is whether the kit needs tweaking to represent one of the first production runs of the tank back in the late 60's? Information is scarce and I'm kind of at a loss. Any and all help would be most welcome.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt;

The only one who mite know is Olivier, try looking at a Heller AMX-30 and see if there is a Difference.
The Heller kit is Pretty Old and as far as being Accurate,-- Well Who Knows

Here you can find some "B" pics :

including a few that show "Cassel 1677" (Meng kit option) as it was in 1981-82 :

Tne visual changes I'm aware of is the driver hatch which was flat in the early production batches and the engine cooler round grill which was different. Both features are depicted in the Heller kit.
Here is the early engine cooler grill.

I still have to check but I think some did not have the exhaust protection mesh.

As a follow up, do you have the dates when those changes were enacted to the variant Meng modeled? The lack of information on this tank is maddening, I'd be happy with even an Osprey book on them at this point!

Matt,
I can't give you a definitive answer right now but will check if I find something consistent.
