Evening Ladies & Gents,
My first post in a long time so, I thought I'd get a few posted together. Reasons for being away? Well, no, I've not been in jail and no, I'm not dead either Simple reason is too much work time and not enough playtime! I've had to do bits & pieces wherever I can (which isn't often enough). Anyway, I finally finished these and got a couple of pics done so, here they are. Hope you like 'em! As usual, all 1:35 conversions.
First up, "The Green Devil of Carentan". Something easy to get me back into it. Soldier standing in a field, not exactly unique...
Next up is something you've all never seen before, a pointing German! What's that? Oh well...... "For the Fuhrer!"
The next one took a bit of doing. It's the first time I've tried to model a running figure. I think it turned out OK. "A Day in Normandy".
ou who are
OK, so for those of you who are still awake, I never thought this one would see the light of day! 18 months this has been on & off the bench. 6 times into the oven cleaner! Her it finally is... "To the last bullet!".
So, what's next? I have no idea!
All the best, Guys

Finally! I was hoping you hadn't gone and vanished. All your work is great, sir. Glad to see "To The Last Bullet" finally finished. The expressions and poses are simply flawless. Makes me want to break out my xacto knife and putty and go to town on a kit!
Looking forward to whatever might be next!

Well,it may have taken a while to post but it sure was worth the wait. There is a whole lot of really nice work here and just great details to notice. The painting, specially on the faces, is very pleasing. The gear "hangs"on the figs in the most natural and logical fashion. Poses, perfect.
If I drug out my nit pic manual I could say the SMG pouches on the "pointy guy"look kind of odd, like they were all seperate pieces and I am pretty sure they weren't. This one piece of German gear is very hard to make look correct imho. When you look ar pics of the real thing they can look pretty crazy.
Glad you posted these, they made my day.

Guys, thanks for the comments! It's good to be back
Jerry, I'm glad you commented, as I owe you a lot of thanks. Remember "Ich hatt ein kamerad"? That was the inspiration for "To the last bullet". If I hadn't seen that, it would never have been made. My hat is duly doffed!
Keep smiling Guys!
Gary

Hi Gary,
glad you are posting (again), because these figures are really something!!
There are faulty bits maybe, but the overall effect shines over it all!
Reminds me a little of Bill Horan's figs....! Fantastic...with lots of faults (huge hands, etc) BUT what a joy to look at!
Jerry said you made his day..well, you can add me to the list of happy viewers!!
Do keep posting, please!!
Well done Sir!!
Cheers

Gary, mate, it is nice seeing you again on the site!
I've been waiting to see more of "To the last bullet" and I'm glad to see it finished. Somehow I imagined a ruined factory setting for these figures, but the simpler vignette also work well.
Hope you will keep posting more often... I really miss your work here.
Cheers mate,
Mario

Gary these are total stunners. First off I love the camouflage patterns in all of them- the muted tones look very realistic and the scale of the patterns is done to perfection. The running figure I think looks exactly as it should- it easily conveys the sense of movement needed to make it look right. 'To the Last Bullet' is a masterpiece though- as others have said the facial expressions are flawless and the wounds and blood are some of the best I've ever seen- just awesome.

Hi guys,
What can I say? To be honest, I've had so little bench time over the last months, when I actually sat down to get something done, I seriously couldn't remember what to do! Works settled back down now though so I should get back to normal.. You know the old saying about "Use it or lose it"? I really wasn't sure about the reception these figs would get so, thanks for the kind comments Of course you all realise you'll have to suffer more of my stuff now...
Romain, comments duly noted my friend..I really do have to work on the hands. Just can't seem to get them right. More practise needed..
Mario, hi old buddy! Good to be back! Re: "To the last bullet", I think I was waiting until I had the skills to do it some sort of justice. In case you haven't noticed, I finally worked out how to use static grass! Only took me 2 years to work it out! Old age creeping up I suppose:D Maybe now I might just finish off "Brothers in arms"....
Karl, cheers for the kind words! The running guy took some serious thought. It was probably the most difficult one here. Glad you think it turned out OK though.
Conor, haven't I seen you on some "other" site recently?
All the best, Guys

Hi Gary,
I actually meant that Bill Horan is "guilty" of having biiig hands on some of his figs, not you ....but you are absolutely right that hands are among the tricky bits on a figure!
Is it the lighting or what, but the cloth parts are a tad shiny, aren't they!
It could improve the look (if possible!?) by playing with dead matt cloth and small shine on other materials.
If you threaten us with more pics......I'm afraid we'll learn to live with it!!
Please do keep posting!!
Cheers
Romain
