For my local armor clubs February group build I am doing an early Tiger I in a winter scene. Anyone know what type of trees would be appropriate for the Eastern Front? Specifically, Micheals has some Lemax birch stand of trees on sale this week that look like they would fit well into a 1/35 diorama. Would they be correct for Russia? Thanks for any information.

KBM,
Yes, birch trees were very common in Eastern Europe and Russia (at least the European side). I have seen the Lemax trees and in my opinion they need a bit of work. When using them you will probably need to add some smaller branches to make them look more like trees. Good luck.

Depending on when your Eastern Front dio takes place there may be no trees. During the cold the trees would have been taken for firewood.

Yeah and then there is the "scorched earth" and trees being used for bunkers.
