Hello Everyone,
This is my 4th model as a beginner and my first time to use an Airbrush, I selected the Humvee commando by Italeri, this vehicle will be later part of my new Diorama project:
Painting the Dashboard of the Humvee:
I got the driver from another figures kit:
The finished interior and driver:
preparing for Airbrushing:
Preshading:
The Base coat:
To weather the bottom based on Desert Use, I used the Tamiya light sand texture paint:
then I applied dark rust wash:
Weathering the lower chassis:
And this is the final Humvee after completion:

There is a lot to improve, I don't like the weathering at all. As it's one of Your first models, I'm sure it will be better and better. But... what is this:

Good effort, but the instrument panel and engine cowl (piece Kuba highlighted) are totally off. Below is how they should look. The engine cowl has nothing in the way of switches or anything else on it. It may have some placards for upgrades or other info.
A little research goes a long way.

Thats one muddy AOE you have that Hummer operating in. I like the underside a lot, but yeah, some of your colour choices on the interior are questionable. Still not a bad attempt.

Geez Kuba, that's a bit harsh don't you think? Sure there is room for improvement, but how about sharing some constructive criticism and advise instead? This is Husseins 4th model ever, and first with an airbrush, or did you miss that part?
Good job, Hussein! All models can be improved, whether they are your first or your hundredth. Keep up the good work, and learn from the more experienced modellers who share advise and tips with you.
Much better that my 4th model, that's for sure :-)

would like to react on this topic.
Cause it's just the 4th built model I think some tips and tricks might work instead of saying you don't like it at all? What is it you don't like?
About the interieur I also agree. Some research would have been nice. Looks like a little bit sf to me now.
But I can see you can paint and built very nice ans also knows how to work with different
techniques.
First looking at your preshadings I was thinking " omg, this doesn't look good. They were way to hardedge". But looking at the finished model it seems it turns out very nice.
I also like the colours you used and think you had fun by building and painting.
Offcourse there is room to improve, but that's gor your next model.
For now it is a model you can be proud off!
Best regards, Eelco

Thanks Troy, Sven and eelco for your constructive feedback it is for this reason that i post my beginner model work to seek advice and not to show it off , indeed i realized that i did a bad job on the interior and learned to do more research in the future and never under estimate any details.
As for the preshading i wanted to do it with airbrush but i was too thick to focus on the details and would have probably murged down and become mostly black so i did it by hand brush, i have a Revell beginner airbrush, what is your advice about that?
Thanks
Hussein

The washes you used shows off the kit details really nice. I paint all my figures and vehicles black first so you can lightly airbrush the basecoat from above to get natural shadows. I admit the interior display made me almost stop scrolling through your pics ;-) every model you can learn from. Have fun

Hussein,
Four models is is not alot of experience.I think your off to a good start and with time and some research you will only improve.Armorama is very good place to start. There's a ton of good and well knowing people on here that are more than happy to help others out.I wish it was around when I started out.Harsh comments are rare and take it with a grain of salt.Don't let any one discourage you from this great hobby. As Greg said "have fun" just enjoy whatever your working on.

Harsh comment? Come on Would it be more fair to Hussein, if I wrote just "nice work"?! Sven, eelco - both of You have criticised my posting, both of You have admited, that 'there is room for improvement', but... where are advices for Hussein from You
Hussein, I want to apologize You (but only You), if I offended You with my comment. That was not my intention. I'm always honest with my opinions and if I don't like something, I just write it. Of course I could have written some tips for You, but I'm sure that I'm not a good person for giving advices. And... do I have to be a butcher to be able to say that a served sausage doesn't taste to me?
Well, let me tell You what is it I don't like. You made a preshading. Ok, but after base coat it dissapeared. Look at the tarpaulin - so many deflections of it and almost none of them are visible on Your model. The doors - the same.
I don't like the weathering. It looks like after pouring a dirty water on it. And this water dried and left some spots here and there - without rhyme or reason. The wheels - the same. The dirt on them doesn't look nor dust nor mud for me. My advice - if You are not experienced modeller, try to use easier way to weather Your first models. Maybe only dust? I know very well, that making a realistic weathering on model is very difficult.
Beside this there are some small mistakes:
- curved and too thick antenna,
- not painted small reflective lights at the rear,
- not whole indicators mounted at the bonnet sides are made of amber glass, only a middle part of them,
- an exhaust pipe is made of aluminum alloy and should be silver,
- wrong type of windshield wipers,
Etc, etc... Hussein, if there will be another Humvee model from You in the future, it will be a great pleasure for me to help You made it as good as possible.
Regards.
