I'm looking for information on 50 cal machine guns on M1 Abrams, specifically the commander's gun. Can't seem to find a picture online to show what I mean, so I will try to explain.

Sometimes the 50 cal gun features a different type of barrel. It looks more like a 3 barreled gatling gun. I think it's a different cooling system. I've also seen the same gun on late M113's.

Is this a 50 cal at all ? If yes what's it called and is there any 1/35 kit or aftermarket available.

Its the blank adapter. Difficult to replicate accurately. No known make in aftermarket. Please correct me if I've missed anything.

Man, I was hoping they were mounting GAU-19s on Abrams!

Ah, that explains why you never see them on deployed Abrams in Afghanistan or Iraq. Makes sense now.

If you really want one to do a vehicle in a training scenario, Academy's M113 kits come with one for the .50cal as an option. I think there is one in Trumpeter's M1A1/A2 kits too.

Anyone know if these work with the new M2A1's? I imagine you'd have to remove the flash suppressor on the A1's.

Yes, the flash supressor has to be removed and then it fits on it with no issues.
