does anyone have a few good reference pics of modern headsets with mic? i have to scratch out a few , thank you

There are many photos out there, but unfortunately we don't always know what to search for.
Try "DH-132S" or "DH132AS" or "Combat Vehicle Crewman" or CVC helmet. You'll get more hit than you need.

I have seen a headset from LR but I thought it may have been a SOPMOD kit MRAP crews didn't use..I'll check it out again

MRAPs don't typically use the CVC helmets. Those are used by tank crews.

You want pics of the VIS (vehicle intercommunication set) AN/VIC-3.

Both MRAPs and tanks (M113, etc also) use the same pieces of hardware in the vehicle (control heads, speakers, etc) but the actual headsets are different. The CVCs can be used in an MRAP (and vice versa), but MRAPs are fielded with the headsets.

Check out the last page of that brochure. The difference between CVC (left), soft CVC (center) and headset (right) can be seen, as well as some pretty good pictures of the control system.
