Modelers,

it has been a while since I submitted a picture from my current project...but here's one of the lastest....

Status on December 9, 2003

As you can see the general layout is there. The big items are almost done, and that makes it time to move to some of the detailed stuff. Note that none of the things you see on the picture have their final colours. Paining has to be finished and washing and highlighting still have to be done too.

This project is the first project where I use MIG Pigments....I must admit this is awesome stuff to use. I'm currently making rust on the heating pipes....those pigments are just wonderful to use for this sort of work.

If you noticed the light spots on the right...that also is done ith MIG Pigments....those light spots are some try-outs for adding dust to the place..... I love them !!

I'll keep you posted.

Eagle, nice job! I lke the pipes. The pigment looks good. I like the pigment on the floor it looks like 'high traffic' areas.

Great update!

The plot thickens... ! Looks about ready to get a final paint job and last touch details. When do we expect mr. U and his team to crowd the room ? Good job !

I must have missed earlier posts on this dio... What's the story?

I really like the interior work you've done. I have no doubt it will look superb upon completion. Keep it up!

Ambrose,

I'll get back to you all on the story behind the diorama.

Jan,

Mr. U is expected when the furniture arrives.... the General's staff didn't want to occupy an empty room.....still have to build the chairs though, so it might take a while before he can move in.

One big thing is still bothering me...... I still can't find a WWII map of the Arnhem area.... since it will placed in a central area of the diorama, it must be accurate and not just any map.......

Danny - 'contract' with Robert (Faust) and get him to generate a map for you
Seriously, can you fabircate one yourself using the maps from one of the MG web sites as a guide?
Check out the movie -I know they have some wall maps and then the 'missing' map is shown also.

It is coming along very nicely, the mig pigments look very good.

Looking great Danny. the wall pipes look amazing and the arches add a lot to the 3D effect. Have you added some nail effects in the timber floor? Easy to do, even at this stage, if you havent. This is another little detail that adds great effect. Good luck with the furniture!

I believe that another great dio is on the run !!Fine work and i believe that with the furniture will show even better at once.
Concerning to what Plasticbattle said about nail effects on the floor and as a amateur carpenter my self i have to say that from old times when under the floor boards there was a wood complex and the floor boards put over it the nailing was done on the sides of the boards diagonally , so at first they dont show up , and at second because they did not use too many screws that early and they used nails , with all the step traffic on them tha nails started to come up from the surface. Asked about this some older guys that are now retired and said to me that the side nailing on the floors is a very old techniques so, i believe there is no actually need for nail marks , so that the floor is realistic. On the other site if there is not , or supposed not a wooden frame under the floor boarding the nails could also be there. Hope i helped a lil . Waiting for more on this fine work
