Whilst getting dragged around Chester City centre on Saturday, duty bound to do the Xmas shopping, I popped into an art shop. My intentions to pick up some Winsor & Newton oils for washes. In error I picked up Designer Gouache in Burn't Umber and Burn't Sienna. The Gouache is a form of water colour I believe.
Can they be used for washes?

Decoded to give it a go anyway.
The pigment seems a bit heavy. The results around the running gear on the PZiv looked good to me, the heavy pigment helping. I wasn't happy with the finish on the rest of the model on the upper hull. I felt that the heavy pigment is too noticeable on the areas of the upper hull I tested it on. I imagine it will also be good on tracks.
I therefore checked the W & N website and got the impression that Gouache is used to deepen existing colours by mixing with acrylics or be used where a high pigment is needed with water colours.
IMHO, OK for running gear where the pigment is really noticeable.
