Greetings:

What was the outside colour of the M113's (APCs) used in Vietnam by the Australians. The olive drab the Australians used was a lot lighter than the US olive drab counterpart; it also was matt rather than semi gloss.

Does anyone know the correct colour to purchase ?

It is called Non-specular Olive Drab Green and is available from Mouse House Enterprises out of your own Australia.

it's called lustreless olive drab. available from mouse house or white ensign

I also note that BNA Modelling sells the white ensign paints http://bit.ly/HOYTOg

Pity the paints are enamels as I like to work with acrylics; but, as there is nothing much else that fits the task (unless you colour match using AK Interactive or similar),I guess I'll be pumping enamels through my airbrush

One thing to note, early on in the Vietnam conflict, the Australian M113A1's were US OD. It wasn't till later on that the cars were painted Australian Lusterless OD.

Iian, I've found that life color faded olive drab is a pretty good match if your after an acrylic.

I've found that life color faded olive drab is a pretty good match if your after an acrylic.


Thanks for your replies. yes I also noted Lifecolor as a possible match. I'll go with enamel and see how it goes if only because it's the correct colour - it's been a long time since I painted with enamel (bathroom excluded). I can use acrylics for weathering and everything else but the green coat Best, WilloW

The enamels certainly stick better, and smell nice too!
