2 questions,
Does anyone know when the 2 piece Tiger II barrell was introduced to replace the 1 piece?
Second question, I've only used an aftermarket barrel for the Hummel kit (jordi rubio barrel), because it was a perfect fit and required no additional work. But I have purchased other barrels that required work to fit it to the model kit. Not being an expert (yet), I try to avoid those at this point. Has anyone used an aftermarket barrel on the Tamiya Ardennes Front King Tiger that is accurate, fits great, and requires minimal work? I was scoping a Jordi Rubio, CMK, or Eduard.
Any comments would be great!

The tiger II began to recieve to 2 piece barrel almost from the begining ..You can find pictures of both types of barrels on the early (Porsche) turreted tigers...so very few had the one piece barrel ...second of all I think I would go with the Eduard barrel of I were you as I have both the CMK and the Jordi and can't say I'm happy with either of them...I can say that one of the two barrels I have must be way off as they are completly different from each other ...haven't checked yet to see which one will get the boot to the bin but I think CMK missed the boat on this one .As for muzzel breaks CMK looks like they used the old Tamiya kit as a base!! YUCK and Jordi's isn't much good either ...you are better to put the Tamiya kits Muzzel break on the Jordi barrel..So try Eduard can't be worse ...can it??

Go for the Eduard Tiger II barrel. It has an in-line muzzle brake, and all it is required is to pop it in and paint. No fitting, no sanding, and no white metal muzzle brake to fiddle with.
Trust me on this one. Go for the Eduard barrel.
Cheers !!

The first Tiger II with Porsche-Turm were Tigers 280001 to 280050. Starting with Tigers 280018 the one-piece gun tube was installed; although Tigers 280035 and 280037 were issued with two-piece gun tubes because of left over stock.
So to answer your question Tiger II's #1 thru #17 and #35 and #36 with the Porsche-Turm had the one-piece gun tube. All others had the two-piece gun tube.
