Just to broaden your choice, there are a few other AM wheel sets available from manufacturers like Real Model, TWS or MR Models.
CMK has released a interior set and an engine set :
I guess Vodnik's article should be worth reading for your project :

Hi Jon,
Am is not the problem with the M900 truck series. After consulting my AM General materials, I found out the the cargoi bay is about 2,5 mm (1/10 inch) too narrow and too short. Also the front fender need widened by 2.5 mm, which in fact means tha you have to scratchbuild the entire fenders.

@ HermaanB...
Im not sure im going to be concerned over 1/10 of an inch. If its not to glaring, ill just let it be. I just want a decent US army truck that doesnt have gaping holes in it. I think ill follow Vodniks route. But I definitely need to change those wheels. Ill correct the other mistakes if they are worthwhile and not a major hassle.

This is the first time I have heard the Italeri kit is too narrow and too short. I agree with Venom though, it isn't enough to worry about in 1/35 scale.
Venom - It can be a really nice kit with a little work. Aa you said, the wheels are a must. Follow Pawel's fixes corrections and detailing and it will come out looking great.
I did one a while ago and think it came out pretty nice.
You can see it in-progrees here and completed here.

Unfortunately I don't have time to read Vodnik's review, which I'm sure is very thorough, but when I researched it for the Legend upgrade I found so many things wanting underneath. (steering linkage, brakes, etc.) Many were corrected, some were not. The Legend upgrade is definitely worth getting. If you have good references, there are a lot of carriage bolt type pieces of hardware along the frame (use round head rivets like I did) that will geatly enhance the look of the frame.

Another thing you would have to do with the kit is get rid of the wood decking in the bed of the truck. It can easily e done with a shee of styrene. I used paper card stock for that myeslf.

If you read Pawel's article, it covers all of the above and then some. Most of the fixes are simple and do not take long to do. They will add to the details immensly though.
