Hi,
I am thinking of finishing my 1/35 Warrior. To depict a vehicle from Iraq approx. 04 - 06 I added the improvised armour plates to the kit.
My question is if a whole green Warrior was possible at that place and time?
The photos Iīve seen show some vehicles with the front and side armour shield in green colour. However itīs not obvious if the hull and the turret were also monochromatic or if they had the black fields painted.
Thanks a lot for any reply

Hello Jiri,
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will pop up but I would be surprised to see any Warrior in plain green in the time frame you mentioned. I've only seen green and black vehicles in the British Army from Bosnia times on.

Hi!
I canīt tell YES or NO, but I would guess it is extremely unlikely. The policy I have seen within the british army since their employments to UNPROFOR or OP Granby was to paint the vehicles at the units by the crews before their deployment starts. In your case I would guess that a damaged component of the armour would have been replaced in the field which was sent in the field from the home stocks.

I am not sure what exactly you are referring to with the "improvised armour plates" but these images of British Warriors in Iraq have been on Prime Portal for several years...

Hi guys,
thanks to all for your effort and answers. The Sebīs Warrior at primeportal is exactly what I was referring to.
The side armour shields plus the improvised plates are obviously green, but is the turret and the hull? I really canīt say from these photos. Thatīs whay this thread

Hi Jiri,
If you look closely at the pics on prime portal you will see that the in the side view pictures there is a sprayed black portion where the smoke discharger cable exits the turret and also on the rear left bin. I personally have never seen an all green Warrior either in Bosnia or Iraq and I worked with armoured infantry units in both theaters. Thats not to say there isn't one or two out there.
It was common however to have a green and black Warrior with all green or even all sand coloured Chobham armour panels attached depending on whether those panels came from stocks or transferred from a Telic 1 or 2 vehicle.

Hi,
funny enough, the vehicle with callsign square 12 and reg no. 39KG05 has a KFOR marking written on its rear door, but the environment and the crew gear looks more Iraq than Kosovo. Maybe a unit rushed into service from one theatre to the next and repainted soon after arrival?

Re: the green Warrior. I've the Bison decals sheet with this vehicle on it. If you'd like the decals, let me know, you're welcome to them, I will not be using them.
While I am posting; does anyone here have photos showing the attachment of a SMP to a Warrior, please?
thank you.
Kylie

Hi Max,
here are a couple of pics of green Warriors for you
You know the old adage...never say never...

Exactly. Just recently I saw a picture in a book of an M577A1 of the NY National guard in Iraq in 2004, at least I believe it was an A1. It gets better though. It was still in it's early 1980s MERDC 3 tone camo. If I find the pic I will scan it.

Like I said in my initial post, the Warriors in country either had all green or all sand coloured Chobham panels attached. The 2nd picture actually shows that the Warrior is not all green. It has black camo sprayed onto the turret underneath the antenna mount.
