Hello all,
today I want to show you one of my latest finished models. It´s a Leopard 2A4 from the Austrian Army. I used Revells new 1/35 kit and added HKCW workable tracks and Decals from IPMS Austria. Otherwise OOTB. I kept weathering to a minimum.
Hope you like it.
And some Detail shots:
Best regards,
Andreas

Nice build Andreas.
The kit looks good out of the box even if some details are a bit thick like the Galix protections and the front skirt portions hinges.
If I'm correct those Austrian 2A4 are former Dutch tanks.

Hello Olivier,
thanks for your reply. Yes, it´s a good kit with some flaws. What I hated most were some nasty sinkholes. But all in all you get a good kit for a reasonable price. You are right about the origin of "our" tanks. Some still have the old smoke discharger layout like on my model, some have the newer one (6+2)
Best regards,
Andreas

Looks great. I love the slab sided early leopard IIs.
How is the Revell kit? Any better or worse then the Hobbyboss one?

Thank you Jimmy and Sascha.
Unfortunately I dont have a HobbyBoss kit to compare. I can tell you about the Revell kit that it has some really nice details, like the very fine anti slip surfaces. It goes together pretty well. Only fitting problems I had were by the turret. Had to use some "pressure" and super glue to bring the walls together. And some annoying sink holes (i.e. on some of the periscopes, gun mantlet and shock absorbers)
Other than that it´s a nice kit for a reasonable price.
reetings,
Andreas

I have the hobby boss kit at home and from what i can tell the detail of the revell kit is better than the HB one. It looks really good, great work!

Nice Build! Looks like some of the Leo II's I saw when I was stationed in Germany an got to visit Austria. The only thing I would have changed would be the engine intake screens. I would have scratch built or got the photo-etch replacements for them. Other than that nice build! Have fun!!

Having built the Revell 2A4 and having used Eduard PE screens on a 2A6 I have to say the Revell screens actually look a lot better in my opinion. Your eye can tell the PE is only 2D, maybe scratching them yourself it will be different.
Love your build. After spending a few months in Austria last year on an exchange program I became fascinated with Heer equipment and the country too of course. Next time I find a cheap 2A4 I'm definitely building an Austrian one. What green in a close match to the green the Heer uses?

Very realistic. I like the close-up photos - you can tell you took your time weathering it, even though it is restrained.

Thanks again for your kind words. Really appreciate it.
Erik, the color is a mixture of different Vallejo shades.
1.) Vallejo Air 71074 Radome Tan
2.) Vallejo Air 71017 Russian Green
3.) Vallejo 70991 Dark Sea Grey
I mixed those colors abou 3:3:1
This was then followed with 2-3 filters with Abteilung 502 "Field Grey" to make it a bit darker.
Hope this helps and thanks again to all of you!

leo2 looks really nice with single colored camo which is rare to see, but i still prefer the NATO three colored camo with German armor.
