Found this on sale on Dragon's website:

I want to build it as a Wiking vehicle in Korsun during the encirclement in January/February 1944. The kit comes without zimmerit, but would the tank itself come without it? I know by the end of '43 it was usually factory applied. But this particular model doesn't look like it's got it in the box art either, so I'm not sure if I should apply my own zimm, or leave it off.

Any suggestions would be great!

Zimmerit was discontinued from factory application on 9 September 1944 and from field application on 7 October 1944.

This says it was produced Sep-Nov '43.

So I'd say yes. Zimm away.

The Box Art probably doesn't show it so that folks won't think that Zimm comes with the kit.

If it was one of the first off the assembly line, it might just have made it before zimmerit became standard.

That's what I'm sort of thinking. I'm looking through a book for pictures and it doesn't look like there's zimm on any of the Panzer III/IV's. Hoping that's the case, as it would save me $25-30 hahaha
