How feasilbe would it be to use the new Miniart Tram in a diorama of Saigon during the French Indo-China War (1949-52 timeframe) Saw some old photos of trams in Vietnam, thought might not be to far fetched. Thanks in advance.

Not far fetched at all - they looked pretty damned similar.
I'd like to see you do it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, thought I would use some of the Masterbox and Miniart figure sets of WWII women, and the French civilans, as well as some period vehicles, the Citreon etc. Since the French used a lot of US WWII eqpt; could also come up with some off duty soldiers.

I have the Diopark ones, as well as the bicycles and civilans. Also have some Japanese 1/32nd scale kits that look like the Lambrettas we all loved.

Hey Walley,

That sounds like a pretty neat diorama idea. I haven't seen anyone build one like that. I wish you the best on that.

Cheers,
James

The trolley in the photo "Square of the Little Lake" looks very much like a US built trolley by the Brill Company. With some internet research I bet you could find out where the city purchased their trams (trolleys).

Wally,
Sounds like a great and unique idea for sure. There is another thread on here talking about French troops uniforms and equipment in Colonial Vietnam,
Frenchie,as usual,provided some nice refs,

You can even add Tamiya Simca 5 and Citroen Traction Avant kits to the list if need be :

Also looks like a couple of Willy (or Ford) Jeeps in the foreground parking. Maybe you could also convert some of the Diopark scooters into motorized rickshaws, as seen in the photo.

Very nice idea there is too many Indo/VN dioramas involving military vehicles so a "civilian" one is nice for a change change. All the best in this endeavor. Plavi

Frenchy, thanks for the photo, thinking i might also be able to use the new Bronco delivery van since the Simca is a French version of the Fiat.
Jerry, Plavi, thanks for the encouragement, looking forward to doing this project.
Biggles, thanks for pointing out the jeep
