Iron hammer was a nightmare. I managed to get frostbite in both feet. I've never seen snow like it before or since. They called end ex after two weeks as there were that many non duff casualties (frostbite, hypothermia, fatal RTA's) and the armour couldn't grip the roads. Was third armoured div BAOR I was attached to if memory serves me right. I remember going over a bridge crossing at Hameln and the valley leading to it was just mud as all the armour had stripped the vegetation. The sappers had dropped some SMG's in the river by accident so they had divers down there to recover the weapons...lol
