I know that below there is a post about water soluable oils.... but..... I just got some winsor and newton winton oil colours and I don't know what to thin them with. Could I use water or would I have to buy a thinner made for oils. It says nothing on them so I am wondering if someone could help?
Thanks

No clue about your W&N colour. What you can do is to get a small amount of colour with a toothpick from the tube and try to mix it wit water. If the attempt ends up in a mess quite likely you have to buy turpentine or turpenoid to thin them...

My regular W&N oils (the ones that painters use) are normally thinned with white spirit problem free, so i think you should do the same. The sell some thinners on the hobby shops, but is the white spirit in expensive bottles and the guys there pretend is specialised and that white spirit harms the paint in a way of time, but its a lie

Use W & N turpentine. They also produce ordourless turpentine to thin your oil paint.

Hello Hasty
You can´t use water with Winton W&N oil colors. You'll have to use normal solvents (turpentine, white spirit, etc..) The oils that are water soluble are called ARTISAN
You can find informations about W&N oils and solvents in this web page:
