Can someone please tell me, should I primer my 1/72nd scale Panzer IV J interior and exterior? If so, could you please tell me what color should I use as a primer?

I'm currently weathering Revell's 1/72 Panzer IV H and can tell you that I did not use a primer.
I washed the completed kit in warm soapy water, rinsed, and let dry. Then I put down a base of Tamiya Dark Yellow (lightened quite a bit with White for scale effect) and then did the camo with Red Brown and some green shade.
If you are doing something with open hatches, you may want to shoot in some white or maybe even black to 'hide' the lack of interior.
Sometimes I do use a primer, but since I didn't use any PE or even filler on this one, I didn't feel priming was necessary. It looks very nice so far.
Oh, I do use an airbrush if that matters.
