Probably a question asked a hundred times before, but a search didn't come up with any good answers....
What colors are the tracks of a M1A1/2 when they roll off the assembly line? And is that a good color to use as a base for painting the tracks? ( is there a difference in track color between an nato 3 scheme and a tan one?) I know the pick up a lot of dust, mud and rust after a little while, but I can't figure out what the color originally was...
T(h)anks in advance,

There is no differance in the tracks of NATO or Tan painted Tanks, other than some over spray.

For the tracks themselves I paint the metal part with Revell #6 (Tar Black) and the pad Revell #8 (Gloss Black)

Brand new the track is all black. It is coated with a sort of sticky preservative. Reminds me of that black goo they use to patch cracks in the highways.
