I have the Academy M113 fitter and a number of photographs showing the internal detail. Does anyone know where I could acquire a reasonably accurate drawing of the interior detail of the HIAB crane? Or does anyone make a kit of the same?

PAUL,
Isent the HIAB crane the same as the fitter crane only rated @ a higher lift capacity.? The part exsposed is a little longer then the Fitter type. I believe this crane is described in the Hunnicutt Bradley book, and the United defense site on the M113.

Hi Todd,
Thanks. I do have the Hunnicutt book, which provides external drawings but not the interior. I'll check out the UNited Defense site.
Cheers

PAUL: SO WHICH IS IT. THE Fiiter or the HIAB. The sites provided by Jeff are of the Fitter crane not the HIAB. Are we confused YET?

Uh yea. I am now confused. I was under the impression that the crane on the Fitter was indeed a HIAB. From your comment, I assume I am wrong?

As far as I know, the M113 Fitter is equiped with a HIAB crane. As a matter of fact, the official designation is M579
Gr,
That is my thinking also! (++) (:-)

Paul:
The Academy kit is indeed the M579 Fitter. I thought you were refering to the M113A1E1 which is Referanced in the Hunnicutt book pg 212 and on the United Defense website. This is the vehicle with the heavier capacity crane. and stretched hull. The crane does not break @ its mid-point like the fitter crane does.
