This is an out-of-box review of the Merit 15cm sFH 18 howitzer in 1/16 scale. There are 9 major sprues in light tan plus the two trailing arms. Six rubber tires, a bag of miscellaneous metal parts, and a small PE fret round out the contents. The moulding is the typical Trumpeter quality with no flash and almost no ejector pin marks.

There is a color painting guide although everything is basically Field Gray and a 24 page instruction booklet broken down into 26 assembly steps using standard type exploded drawings.

You're gonna need some room for this one – the trailing arms are 9” and the raw barrel is 10” so I'd guess the overall length in the stowed towing position will be over 2' and maybe 18” wide in the firing position. Overall, a really nice, big kit but a bit pricy at about $80 online. If you're a fan of artillery this kit should definitely be on your list.

If anyone would like to see more closeups I'd be glad to add detailed photos.
