At anytime was the PASGT vest cover in OD and in active use also what time frame did they switch over to the tri-color woodland pattern. I am building a tamyia LVTPA1 and the instructions are calling for tri-color but I am thinking that the time frame for the camo pattern I am painting the model in snow temperate in use with marines in Norway during the cold war that tri-color was not in use yet.
Thanks ZH

This might help you out...an Internet search for "PASGT vest"...no mention of a timeline.

The PAGST flak and helmets came out in the early 80's. There are pictures from Grenada in 1983 with the 82nd Airborne wearing the vest and helmet with the Rangers wearing the old steel pot. Different units got the items at different times based on their priority in the supply system -- for example I still had the steel pot in 1985 at Ft. Lewis. So far as the vest being issued in OD green I never saw it, they did manufacture cloth covers for it in other patterns besides the woodland pattern -- tri color and chocolate chip desert for example.
