Hello!
Today I send Miniart a message suggesting (almost begging, in fact) that they launch modern figure sets and accessories (Russian/Soviet, Israeli, USA, UK, French ...).
They send me an almost immediate reply and this was their answer:
«We understand that there is a demand for modern figures sets and we are considering launching such sets in future. We don't have exact plans or dates of releasing of such kits. And right we are more concentrated on subjects of WWII. But we certainly will continue our consideration and will take into account your propositions!»
It's not certain and we still don't have a date, but at least they say that they recognize that there is a demand and they are "considering".
My fingers are crossed!

There will be several modern US figure sets appearing soon, unfortunately we don't have enough info to run the story yet... but stay tuned.

If Miniart does decide to get into modern figures, I hope they also consider doing some modern buildings and dio bases
Mario, can you at least say if they'll be plastic or resin.. or will that ruin the story?

Kind of frustrating to know it's US that are to appear.
In the end most modern figure sets already on the market are US.

Still, if they will have the quality of the Miniart figure sets (specially the latest ones) it will be great.

As Aristeidis said, there are 3 new plastic sets coming from MasterBox:
This is all the info I have so far... Hopefully we'll soon have more to run the story.

I was talking about Miniart, not Master Box.
For sure Master Box figures are good and improving (I'm waiting for their set of the US Special Forces in Afghanistan), but Miniart already achieved a quality level that is inferior to none and in some ways is even better than Dragon's.
Just check their new Soviet weapons and equipment sets and the new British officers sets.
I stress out that I'm not "trashing" or even criticizing Master Box.
I respect the products that that company produces.
I honestly like some of their sets, they have a lot of creativity and they are bold in their choices and I think their quality (which is already high) is growing.

I don't mind modern figure sets being mostly American, I am sick of every WW2 Infantry set being mostly German. I think it makes a great change.

How difficult is it to get basic weapons correct? That M-ATV set, one troop has an M16A2/with M203 which is very rarely seen in front line units since the M-ATV was issued, and the other rifleman has a Galil! Unless they are Estonian soldiers, they should not have a Galil. Basic stuff here.

A big thanks to Mini Art for all they do,resin quality in plastic WITHOUT the huge price tag.
The only thing i would dearly love to see is figures (WW II and Modern) for the larger scale aircraft that are now on the market.Whilst the 1/48 scale is amply catered for us 1/32,1/35 boys are left chomping at the bit.
NO aircraft has ever left the ground without being Serviced/Re-armed and refuelled so i think someone is missing a trick here (hint, hint, hint !!)

The thing that has always been my pet peeve about figures is that there is a HUGE gap that nobody seems to cover.
If you want to do a diorama about WW II, there are figures.
If you want to do a diorama about Vietnam, there are figures.
If you want to do a diorama about Desert Storm and later (Kevlar and BDUs and later), there are figures.
BUT if you want to do a diorama on the US Army during the ENTIRE COLD WAR from about 1950 or so through about 1980 or so (Fatigues and steel pots) there are almost NO figures available.
I GET the fact that this was NOT a "glamorous" shooting war, but it represents about 2 GENERATIONS of US soldiers who are not represented!!!
(Dismounting soapbox now )

I don't know if they are still available, but there were two dragon sets of USA soldiers during the Korea War: Winter and Summer uniforms. They weren't extraordinary for todays standarts, but they are still very good and usable.
I bought both at the time they were released, but never finished the projects that I had tought for them.
I think the Winter set was also included in one of their mixed tank plus figures boxes.
Personally I feel other nations are even worse represented, specially if you get out of the WWII thematic.
You have no Israeli figures besides the very poor Dragon set from the beginning of the 90ies.
On what concerns Russian post WWII nothing was released after the sets Dragon issued at the time they issued the Israely set.
In fact it is curious that Dragon in the 90ies did released sets of Russian, Israeli, English and French soldiers, but then it concentrated in WWII and cristalized there.
I confess I have a soft spot for Dragon, since in my oppinion they revolutionazed this hobby and made us much more demanding about the quality of figures and AFV's and even of what we should expect from the models we buy: before they there weren't injection plastic models that already came with photo-etched, tracks were all the rubber band type, a new model was a year event ...
... But somewhere they just cristalized in WWII.

Hi
What about a set of generic militia figures without arab type of Afghan headdress or robes that with a simple head swap could be say Lebanese, Libyan or African.
Just boots ,trousers,t shirt simple ak type chest rig and choice of heads.
Or set of IDF figures for halftrack m113 from 67./73

Tom,
Quite right. Seems there are more kits coming out now, both plastic and resin, that are going to cover the first half of my career (73-93), but almost nothing in the figure ranges for what is known as the Cold War era.
It would be a welcome move to see something for that era. There are some of the Bravo-6 figures that come close, and the ever-present Tamiya M151 truck drivers, but not a lot after that.
