Yeah, I know, it's not military. But I thought you'd get a kick out of it anyway. This is a 1/32 scale model I'm building for my slot car layout. When done it will have lights (including neon) & sound. It's a scratch build. I'd say this one is about halfway done.

Tonight I finished the bathroom & most of the shop. I like the way the light looks coming out of the shop. I can't wait to add the neon "OPEN" sign! Yes, that is a roll of TP in the bathroom. Next up is detailing the office. Notice how the inner, detailed wall is removeable. This makes it a lot easier to work on.

Great work Randy,

You should consider a 1/35 modern service station as a Dioramas Plus product.

A modern gas pump and service station is severely lacking for modern dioramas. It could be used anything from the Cold War to present day.

Even using a façade structure like your Iraqi street or Afghan shop would be great to replicate a simple service station.

The roll of TP is excellent!

Thanks. I used a small styrene tube for the TP, and then cut a thin slice of real TP & glued it on, making sure I got one of the "tear seams" to show. : )

So how close is 1/32 scale to 1/35 for it to be used as buildings with 1/35 scale stuff how would it look. An is one foot in 1/35 10 mm because I'm not sure.

Happy modeling

HI Randy - looking really nice - as your work often does! - As an ex-HO model railroader I'm familiar with and have built a few of your DD kits - As noted already, maybe consider some 1/35? - your brick work is always excellent -

cheers

I started on the lobby. I made a counter, soda cooler and a cardboard cutout of the Texaco man. I also added a rack of snacks. I found an image of a shelf of chips, printed out a couple sets of them, and "layered" them to create depth.

Awesome stuff there! It motivates to complete a project I've had in mind for quite some time using my 1/32 Trumpeter P-38, some 1/35 Army Harleys, and 1/32 Snap kits. Of course, I'd be happy if mine turned out half as good as yours.

Wow, Love the details, like the chips and colas. How did you do them? The pinup girl is nice too
@William: 1 inch is 25.4 mm which would be around 7.3 mm in 1/35 scale, if you went with 1 inch to 10mm you'd have almost 1/25 scale

Exactly what I was thinking. I figured the diorama would feature some form of Soviet armor rolling past (Red Dawn?).

I can't wait to see it lighted up.

Thanks guys! The soda cooler is made out of styrene. The insert is just printed paper. It works for well enough for how much it will be seen.

The chip rack is styrene. The chips are simply flat printed paper, but I added a couple of rows of them so it has a little depth. I also sliced between the tops of each package & "wrinkled" them a bit to create a better 3D effect.

You can find display samples of shelved food product if you search google images. Some are sample for stores, so they know how to properly stock their shelves.

Cheers!

Other than the lights and sound, I'm calling the interior a wrap. Tonight I made a cash register (styrene w/printed paper details), bathroom keys and a cigarette display behind the counter. I found the image on the net, and then cut a few of the individual packs free from the basic image so I could lean them forward a bit to give it a little depth.
