Hi Guys;
Fantastic Post and Pictures, what a great build.
This is the kind of stuff that I really like, Off the Wall and Different. This vehicle and the one that's based on the T-72 would be Wonderful in a kit.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE; MIKE.

It's threads like these that make me love Armorama. Before I read this thread I had only heard the name BMR-1 in passing and now I have a whole folder of pictures of it. Thanks.

Hi Everybody;
Its A Good thing that they Don't make it in 1/35 scale. --- Then Id have too Buy two or three.
Items that I have picked out, are the use of the T-72s RMSH, with its Drive Sprocket. The BRDM-2s turret with the 14.5mm Gun, and in the photos there are some that have a Tire or Road Wheels on top of the turret. Interesting !
Its kind of a Surprise, that its not still in production.
I would really like too see the T-72s vehicle made like this. OH TRUMPETER !!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS; MIKE.

Hi;
Man is this Great Stuff or what, the pictures from 35ru are really nice. And gives us Info, on the Soviet/Afgan conflict. When looking at the pictures I can Ident at least four different vehicles that have the Mine Rollers attached, The first appears too be based on a T-54/55, as it has the Ventilation Dome on the back of the rear superstructure. Another feature is the picture taken from the front and shows a Drivers Position lower than the Commanders that's on his right. The other two vehicles are the Engineering Vehicle with the mine rollers and the T-62 based vehicle sporting a Parade Scheme !
Its Interesting in a couple of the pictures that the vehicle has Damage from a Mine Blast itself.
IMHO I think that this type of vehicle would be really nice in kit form or even done by one of the AM Boys, lets say SP Design !!---EH JD.
CHEERS; MIKE.

Hi Mike,
The original vehicles were built on the chassis of the redundant SU122/54 tank destroyer as far as I am aware.....,still learning about it myself!!:)
I also thought it was interesting about the damaged vechicle, I was thinking more alone the lines of an I.E.D tho as I know the CIA trained the Afagan rebels to make them??
I am already costing out the sub kits required to make it lol, Tamiya T55, fruil T72 tracks, Brdm2 for the turret, trumpy or Mig mine roller etc etc etc lol
Cheers Mike

Hello Mike,
very glad to help, this is a long term project of mine as well and I've got as far as altering the wheel spacing and mocking up the superstructure in index card to check for fit and overall look as well as serve as patterns for cutting the actual panels as all the drawings I've been able to find have been pretty suspect.
You're right about it being based on redundant tank destroyers which were subsequently used as towing vehicles during the large soviet era parades and then found their way to Afghanistan fitted with turrets and rollers for mine clearing duty.
To Mike G., I believe the vehicle you mention with the drivers position lower than the commanders' is the BMR-2. It has racks behind the superstructure for a spare set of roller assemblies and a small crane for unloading them. Now THAT'S something I'd love to see in kit form! You'll find some pictures of this version in various damaged states somewhere in the link I posted above.
Finally , we have the BMR-3 which I believe is based on the T-72 and/or T-90. I may have some links saved regarding this that I'll see if I can find.

Hi Guys;
There are plenty of Pictures of the BMRs on the e-net, and the BMR-3 is based on the T-72. Now if we could get Trumpeter too make one of the BMRs that would really be Fantastic ! The B/W photo of the Parade vehicle is the T-62 that was built too be the Anti-Tank version, and was too be fitted with the 130mm gun. In the pic, you can see the Armored Plate that was welded in place. This Version of the Self Propelled Anti-Tank Gun version was Droped because of the So Called Kruchev,s luv of everything that was Missile Driven. Now even tho Kruchev was no longer in power, there were still enough of people still in High Places who still shared this belief. Just a lil-bit of info.
Sean; We would really like too see a couple of shots of your work.
Frenchy; Thanks Man, for the Great Pictures.
I have really enjoyed this Topic, this is Great Stuff !!
CHEERS EVERYBODY; MIKE.

Hi Mike,
do you mean the IT-130? I think the general consensus is that this was a mis-identification of the SU-122-54 from the early days based on the road wheel spacing having been altered. I'm still trying to get the hang of posting photos but I'll see what I can do.
