WoT has me wanting to build a VK 36. I know that Trumpeter has a VK 30. What would I need to modify to create a VK 36? I also know that there are multiple barrel choices. I don't want an 88 on it.

The closest thing in plastic form would be its progeny, the Tiger. Get a Tiger I early with transport tracks, it will provide almost 90% of the parts required, remove the hull sides over the tracks, tweak hull details, build a new turret from sheet styrene. The Konisch is the obvious choice for a gun, since it was designed for the beast. Good luck, it is doable!

Are there any line drawings of this tank?

You can find very good ones in 1:35th scale in PANZER TRACTS No 6, Schwere Panzerkampfwagen D.W. to E-100 including the Tigers, by Thomas L. Jentz and Hilary Louis Doyle, ISBN 0-9708407-1-3,

I like this way of thinking. Been seeing a lot of WoT related stuff here and there. Keep us updated if you go on with this, I'd like to give it a try too (after I finish the Chinese 110).

This may be some help, someone built a 1/16 RC VK 3601:

Edit: Yep, seems very doable

Not sure of scale though....
