Superb start on this one, Dmitry. You do this kind of work so well one of the model companies ought to hire you to build masters for them.

The work on the turret is very impressive Dmitry, you've nailed the difficult shape perfectly so far.
cheers

Really, really impressive. What most of us do here is glue pre-made kits together and are proud of them, looking at this makes me feel like a terrible amateur hehe. This is absolutely another level of modelling. Cant wait to see the whole thing finished. Respect for the work and for picking up one of my absolutely favorit machines!

Colleagues, many thanks for positive reviews of my model.
Unfortunately, there isn't enough time for a hobby.
But I will try to show all stages of construction of this tank.
If you have questions, I will be glad to answer them (as far as I will be allowed by my bad English... ).
Darío, these turrets were established on IS-4 tanks earlier. In the 60th years almost all IS-4 tanks were in the Far East. After IS-4 was removed from arms of the Soviet army, these tanks turned into motionless armor artillery objects.
All of them settled down on the border line with China (at that time with this country the USSR had difficult political relations).
Some tanks established together with the chassis - the tank engine was taken only. From other part of tanks turrets were removed and these turrets were established on concrete bunkers.

What kind of material are the hull and the turret skeleton made from by the way?

Great work on the turret, Dmitri. I think you more than succeeded capturing the shape and texture.
Michal said what a lot of us are thinking. We piddle around, you model!

Dmitri,
Great job on that turret. Scratchbuilding slab sided stuff can be tricky, but is relatively straight forward if you have good drawings. Replicating the compound curves of items that are castings in real life is much, much more complicated and challenging. You've done a really good job capturing that complex turret shape. Bloody well done.

Pretty sure they are plastic card/sheet. Look to be about 1mm thick or so.

Michal, Paul, a design of a framework of a turret and the hull are created from Evergreen plastic sheets. Thickness of sheets 1.0, 0.5 and 0.25 of mm.

Great build. Did you make the tracks, Dmitry, and the running gear and wheels? Or were those AM sets that were bought?
