Hi Guys ,
Just got the new Trumpeter BMP-1 (kit # 05555) a while back and would like to build it as one used in Chechnya ! Is this possible with this kit or do i need the later BMP-1P kit ?
Thanks for any help and info !
best regards

Yep, BMP-1's where used in Chechnya. Just Google, 'BMP-1 Chechnya' and you'll get several pics, including some famous shots of some BMP's in the capital Grozny.

Another distinctive feature of the -P is the mounting bracket for the AT missile firing post.
Unlike the early BMP which has the missile on top of the gun mantlet, the -P has a kind of pedestal on which the AT-4 firing post is mounted.
Looking at the pictures shows there is no missile rail on top of the gun mantlet so my guess is the BMPs pictured are early -Ps.
This means that starting from the early Trumpeter kit, you'll have to modify the gun mantlet.

Hi Guys ,
Thanks for the info & pics ! Also noticed that the pics tend to show only the launching rail and not the missile ! Any other changes needed to bring the kit up to BMP-1P standards ?
Thanks

I don't have the Trumpeter kit to compare, but maybe a BMP-1P walkaround (150 pic) should help with the mods to add ?:
