Hi Guys,
By cleaning up I've found my not finished three year old Dragon Abrams with the Perfect Scale TUSK II. Since four weeks I consider what to do with it. Now I've got an Idea. I'm planning to paint it in urban camouflage and add the Crows II from Blast.
But I have a few questions::-?
1. What is the best way to remove old paint?
The Hull is already painted.
2. Has the Army an urban camouflage pattern for tanks?
If not I will paint it in different gray shades in a kind of swedish ambush style.
Thanks for helping
Cheers
Chris

If it's painted with acrylics, you can use Windex (ammonia window cleaner). If it's enamels, you may risk damaging the plastic by trying to remove it. HTH

For removing enamels, you may try using -with care and protection such as latex gloves- Sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda.
You dilute the flakes or granules of the hydroxide in water and "submerge" the model in the solution, leaving it for -let's say- the entire night.
After that, you rinse it with clean water and remove the remaining paint with an old brush.
During all this process you'll have to handle the kit using protective gloves, since the solution is quite..., well, "caustic".
Some tiny parts may end "unglued" from the model, so be careful to avoid loosing them

I've successfully used brake fluid to remove enamel paint from resin.

You can also use over cleaner to remove enamel paints.
To your second question, no, the Army does not have an urban camo for any vehicle. The only current camo schemes are 3-color NATO and overall sand. Some vehicles are also left in overall NATO green, specifically Stryker variants.

Break Klean (break cleaner) will strip enamels well, just make sure to wash it off quickly otherwise it eats the plastic. It can slightly alter the surface of the plastic, it gave my DML Ferdinand a glass smooth surface on the lower hull, but thats nothing a quick sand and or primer won't fix.

Hi comrads,
thank you very much for the help. Sorry I forgot to say that it is painted with Tamiya Paint so I will try the ammonia window cleaner.
I will start it the next days and then we will see.
Cheers

Chris, an idea. leave the base coat you have on now, spray hairspray on and then your new urban camo scheme and use the hairspray chipping technique to show that your Abrams has seen some action and use. This way you can skip all the extra work and chemicals.
Just an idea.....

Wait a minute!!
Is there anti-slip on the Abrams M1A2 SEP Tusk II? All the pics or most of the photos I've looked at in Google didn't show anti-slip on the tank.
Can someone confirm or infirm please?
ubi/Marc
[EDIT] It seems that I didn't look closely enough to the google results. My own mistakes. But I happen to have ordered/received True-Earth.com anti-slip bottle. Not even for the M1A2 SEP....
Luck it seems.
